EcoWB signed an MOU with Pronatura Noroeste AC and the Sustainable Fisheries Foundation in January, 2015 to jointly work on protecting and conserving mangrove forests on the Mexican Pacific coast. The U.S. partners desire to assist Pronatura in its efforts to conserve the mangrove ecosystems, including 240,000 hectares of lagoons, mangroves, swamps and marshes known as the Marismas Nacionales-San Blas in coastal Sinaloaand Nayarit states.  As the largest mangrove ecosystem in Mexico, the Marismas Nacionales generates important environmental services and has been designated a national priority for conservation. See our project pages for more information on the EcoWB Mexican mangrove and fisheries restoration project.
