Host organization profile: 

We are a Community Based Organization working in Homa-Bay County, Kenya, with past experience in hosting volunteers in various community projects. We have been in place since 2007 carrying out community driven suitable development initiatives. We would appreciate having both options of volunteer that is on site and remote based on the necessities of the project plans.


Project summary: 

Assist with designing and providing support for aquaifer regeneration planning. We will survey local springs, human interactions and inform the community about aproaches to safeguard the natural springs.


Skill needs: 

Any of the following: Environment Conservation, biologist/botanist, field surveying, hydrologist


Time commitment: 

10 hrs/month, for first several months


Requested Activities: 

  • Working with us on designing and planning
  • be part of the training and capacity building of selected team of community leads on the project
  • adivce on plants/flora that can replenish the degenerated watersheds/riparian lands
  • be part of the initial starting of the project to guide us for purposes of replicating the work once s/he lives the location
  • support with fundraisings/grants writing 


Deliverables and results: 

  • analysis and plans for implementation of the project made
  • a local team that has concepts of environmental protection and regeneration fundraising proposal prepared
    reaching out to potential parts to secure funds for the project
  • well organized plans for restoration of wasted riparian, streams and aquifers that have been mapped
