At EcoWB, we are committed to forging strong partnerships with grassroots organizations, local stakeholders, and communities. Together, we support impactful, sustainable, locally-led initiatives that drive meaningful, lasting change.
We recognize that communities themselves are at the forefront of advancing solutions to the challenges they face. By working in true collaboration, we leverage our resources and expertise to amplify the work of local advocates. Our partnership approach is rooted in a deep respect for traditional wisdom, local knowledge, and agency.
We understand that "one-size-fits-all" solutions rarely succeed. That's why our eco-projects are tailored to the unique desires, capabilities, resources, and constraints of each community we aim to assist and empower. Whether it's developing innovative sustainable agriculture techniques, protecting critical ecosystems, or building climate resilience, EcoWB acts as a force multiplier - enhancing local efforts to create a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
ETCO is a Nairobi-based NGO focused on reducing crime, substance abuse, and poverty through environmental stewardship, education, sports, art, and business innovation. ETCO reached out to EcoWB to assist a community project in Kibera, a densely populated settlement on the outskirts of Nairobi, to address waste and environmental damage to the Nairobi Reservoir.
Through a collaborative initiative, ETCO and EcoWB, along with dedicated support from EcoWB's corporate partner, POWER Engineers, are spearheading an impactful eco-project. The aim is to construct trash racks and collection facilities along the reservoir’s four tributaries to prevent solid waste – large, discarded plastic objects and other debris – from entering the reservoir. In combination with disposal activities, this abatement measure will help clean-up the waterway and restore the natural functioning of the reservoir and its tributaries.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with EcoWB. Since partnering with them, our Environmental Department has significantly increased its activity, expanding partnerships and enhancing efforts to address climate change-related impacts. EcoWB has facilitated connections with key partners like POWER Engineers, who have supported our Environmental Care Program, involving sensitization, cleanups, and unclogging of waterways. Through EcoWB, we have also engaged with UN-Habitat, Nairobi Rivers Commission, and the German Embassy. EcoWB's support has been instrumental in mobilizing resources for us. We deeply appreciate EcoWB's expertise in environmental science and conservation and their ability to connect us with diverse partners, which allows us to learn and grow. We are eager to continue this collaboration and gain further insights and experience."
